ARE YOU SNACKING TOO MUCH?

Most of us are creatures of habit, and we all have routines that we continually use in our lives; and some of us can thrive off a simple structure and routine.

Our routines even apply to how we eat.

Life as we know it has been thrown a curveball – it feels like a year long non-stop global headwind! For a lot of people this will of been a very real struggle. And whether we realise it or not, our dietary habits will most likely be changing along with us.

Many factors influence nutritional choices; from our surrounding environment, amount of sleep we get, the stresses we encounter on a daily basis, and maybe most importantly, our levels of boredom.

FOUR QUICK TIPS TO HELP DURING LOCKDOWN:

1. SLEEP should remain constant where possible. Try and maintain bedtime routines and get good quality sleep. This will help with decision making, controlling blood sugar, digestion, energy levels and more!

2. HYDRATION. Stay hydrated. Try and consume an adequate amount of fluid in the morning so you are not playing catch up.

3. KEEP BUSY; especially if you are currently off work. Boredom eating is not a habit you want to develop! Give yourself daily tasks to accomplish, whether that’s work, exercise, reading, learning or DIY – Just keep your mind busy and away from thoughts of what’s in the fridge!

4. EAT MORE FIBRE AND PROTEIN. Base your main meals around high fibre foods (preferably green veg) and protein, to help keep you fuller for longer.
