Two weeks ago, one of my 1-2-1 coaching clients’ progress had slowed. He’d been losing about 2lb a week pre-lockdown, but things had started to plateau. After spending some time discussing what he thought might have changed. He mentioned he’d been having a harder time not eating higher calorie foods in the evening – especially when he was relaxing and watching Tv.
Can anyone else relate? I know I can!
Netflix, dark chocolate, and red wine have basically been embedded in my brain as a habit this lockdown.
Anyway, I suggested a couple of things he could try:
– Add more vegetables and lean protein at dinner so he was fuller
– Have a glass of water and wait 10 minutes
– Turn off Netflix and go do something else
– Save some calories from earlier in the day to have later on
But after the third week of lockdown, none of them had helped (this is ok, and not a sign to give up – it just means we need to use a different tool).
WHAT DID HELP was making a handwritten note of how he was feeling as he started to get those late night cravings. He would write what was going through his head, what food he wanted, whether he actually wanted it, and whatever else came into his head. That might sound stupidly simple, but for this client, it worked. And we’ve since found a solution that has helped him reduce his cravings.
Now, this might not work for you as this client is comfortable with a pen in his hand, and already finds writing therapeutic.
But this is where the beauty of Nakd Fitness Coaching comes in. If I work with you, and you fully ‘let me in’, I’m able to understand and tailor things to you. You don’t NEED a coach to make progress with your weight loss, fitness, and/or performance; but it sure can help take the confusion out of things you’re struggling with.
Trust the process. Love the journey.
